Mechanical Engineering Technician – Fire apparatus manufacturing

Job summary

Work closely with the Technical Director and the Production Director to develop expertise in design and production implementation..

Main responsibilities

  • Design and model the various components of a fire truck: body, plumbing, control panel, pump compartment, water tank, and various accessories, based on the specifications.
  • Prepare detailed and assembly drawings for production.
  • Design and draw 12-volt electrical circuits.
  • Program electrical systems and their components.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and contact suppliers when required.
  • Prepare production orders, work cards, and bills of materials according to the specifications and project manager’s instructions.
  • Order certain components from local suppliers.

Requirements and Competencies

  • Diploma of College Studies in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and ability to use 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Written and spoken English skills.
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
